Lee Health Celebrates National Volunteer Week

Lee Health is the grateful beneficiary of the service and support of more than 4,500 volunteers and auxilians. During the pandemic, safety called for us to suspend our volunteer program. We were disappointed to not have our volunteers in our hospitals, outpatient centers and business offices sharing their time and talents with our staff and patients. We were anxious to welcome all of our volunteers back to their posts, but COVID-19 surges changed our plans for a full return and even affected our ability to accept applications for new volunteers. Thankfully, cases of COVID-19 decreased significantly, and we were able to fully reopen our volunteer program last month – in time for National Volunteer Week, which runs through April 23.

Volunteers and auxilians at Lee Health are integral members of our team. Whether staffing a reception desk, driving a trolley, helping with clerical work, transporting patients, rounding with activity carts, or raising much-needed funds for scholarships or system initiatives, our volunteers and auxilians assist us in our mission. They work hard to ensure our patients receive the highest level of compassionate and safe care. They provide that extra level of personal service to our patients’ experience.

On behalf of all of us at Lee Health, and in honor of National Volunteer Week, thank you, volunteers and auxilians. Your service and support are priceless.

If you are interested in joining our team of volunteers, there are a variety of positions and roles available that encompass both non-patient and patient contact. Our Volunteer Resources department works to match you with a service area based on your skills, experience and desire.
